Rec Center to renovate, not build


Due to the continued funding shortfall of $1.8 million associated with the Harvey Milk Recreation Center for the Arts (HMRC), the Recreation and Park Department has decided to renovate the existing facility and has put the construction of the round performance space and theater on indefinite hold.

The proposed project entails the complete renovation of the existing HMRC, including selective demolition of the central lobby to form a new pedestrian plaza and gateway linking the HMRC to Duboce Park and the neighborhood.
