by Gregg Wilcox, President, DTNA
At the Sept. 12 DTNA meeting, the Planning Department presented the Market and Octavia Neighborhood Plan. The Planning Department listened to the concerns of the neighbors and has agreed to work with Duboce Triangle residents to address those concerns.
Since then, DTNA has established a task force that has met several times with the Planning Department. The task force has established three community meetings to obtain community input and discuss possible changes to the Market and Octavia Neighborhood Plan. Please refer to the agenda for those meetings in this newsletter.
The first meeting will be held on Monday, Nov. 14, which is the regularly scheduled DTNA neighborhood meeting. At this meeting, we'll review the goals and objectives of the Better Neighborhood Plan as they relate to Duboce Triangle. The second and third meetings are scheduled for Dec. 1 and Jan. 19. All the meetings will be held at McKinley School. Included in this newsletter is a questionnaire developed by the DTNA Planning Task Force to gather YOUR input. Please complete the questionnaire and mail to DTNA no later than Nov. 8. Your comments and concerns are important to DTNA and your neighbors.
For your reference, copies of the draft Market Octavia Neighborhood Plan and the draft Environmental Impact Report have been placed in the Eureka Valley Branch Library.

The rumors about Trader Joe's can be squelched: the chain is no longer considering the corner of Sanchez and 15th Street for a new store.

The Joint DTNA/BVNA (Buena Vista Neighborhood Association) Task Force continues to work with California Pacific Medical Center (CPMC) regarding the design of the new medical office building which will be built at the corner of Duboce Avenue and Noe Street. With the assistance of Supervisor Bevan Dufty, CPMC and DTNA co-sponsored a peer review of the architecture of the new building. The Peer Review Panel consisted of six highly respected San Francisco architects who all felt the design fit well into the context of the current Davies buildings and the surrounding Victorian neighborhood.

The November DTNA neighborhood meeting starts the nomination process for the DTNA Board of Directors, with the election at the follow- ing January meeting. DTNA is always looking for assistance with many of the activities it takes to keep this non-profit running, so please consider volunteering.
Your involvement can be as small as one hour every two months for newspaper distribution up to biweekly task force meetings on a variety of important topics to the Triangle.
