Changing of the guard

This is a long overdue message to recognize two very special people who live in the Duboce Triangle.

The first is Irv Eidenberg, the crossing guard at the corner of 14th St. and Castro for McKinley Elementary School. He delivered the DTNA newsletter for almost 15 years. He recently turned 87 years old. Due to knee problems, he had to stop his deliveries. His route has gone to the youngest delivery person in the Triangle, Anna Mae Parsons, who turns 6 this month.

Irv has lived here since 1980 and Anna Mae has lived here her whole life. Anna Mae's favorite colors are pink and purple and Irv does not have a favorite color. Irv likes classical music, and Anna Mae likes, "Sing Along With Putamayo," Hawaiian music and tap dance music. Irv likes the Triangle because it is safe and quiet. Anna Mae likes it because it has a park and recently had a fake Bart station.

Irv said he wouldn't change anything about the neighborhood, while Anna Mae would change the colors of the houses, with more "seas and cows or a whale universe on some." Ana Mae's hobbies include going to the Discovery Museum, Duboce Park, Fairyland and especially school.

I hope you will have an opportunity to meet these two interesting people who help make the Triangle the great neighborhood it is.
