Pursuit of Happyness, the true story of a homeless African-American man who begins working at a corporate training program at a San Francisco brokerage house in 1981, will be filmed throughout San Francisco starting on Aug. 27, and will include one sequence in Duboce Park. Filming in Duboce Park will probably be on Sept. 21. Construction of a set, about 30 by 40 feet, will be built in the three weeks prior to the actual filming. It will be have a fence around it at night and have a guard on site when a crew is not present.
There will be no parking along Duboce, Steiner, Hermann and Fillmore on the day of the shoot (about Sept. 21). They want the look of 1981, bringing in cars of that era. Extras will be dressed appropriately for that year. Signs will be posted on all streets in advance of the day of filming. Friends of Duboce Park will e-mail the details and post announcements on the bulletin board as we receive them.
