Hightlights of Public Meeting July 11th

Agenda highlights of the DTNA public meeting July 11, 2005 at Davies-CPMC

President Gregg Wilcox announced a meeting for Aug. 15 about the future of the vacant space referred to as the Henry Street stairs.

Cal Pacific Medical Center-Davies continues to plan for a new 50,000 square-foot, four-story building at the corner of Duboce and Noe. A task force including Gregg Wilcox and Richard Magary, president of Buena Vista Neighborhood Association is in continuous touch with the hospital planners. They are talking now about the style and shadow pattern of the addition. Seismic reinforcement to existing buildings is now under way.

Trader Joe's has completed a traffic survey as part of its proposal to build a three-story structure on the site of the Delux Paint store. Critics of the plan say the parking, as proposed, is inadequate for the amount of business Trader Joe's expects. If Trader Joe's makes a formal proposal to the city, the planning will require two years to process.

Undergrounding of utilities in the area of Church and Duboce streets was to start in August, 2005.

Developers of a proposed 60-foot-high structure on the north side of Market Street between Church and Sanchez have filed documents with city planners. The building is expected to have 28 units.

Supervisors for District 8 (Dufty), and District 5 (Mirkarimi), have not yet announced a date for the next meeting to discuss the accommodation of a dog play area in Duboce Park.

Mark Scheuer, DTNA board member and an active member of Friends of Duboce Park, is advocating historic designation for older buildings in the Castro and Duboce Triangle areas. A budget for a survey to identify historic structures is being sought from funding agencies.
