Plans for a 4,000-square-foot round performance space at the Harvey Milk Recreation Center may have to be scrapped unless the final $922,000 of the project is raised by June 1, 2005.
The Recreation and Park Department has promised to match the final $922,000 and has asked the arts community to contribute. The total cost for the 200-seat performance space is $1.84 million.
The renovation is one of the projects under the 2000 Neighborhood Park Bond Program (Proposition A). Groundbreaking on the $9.46 million project is scheduled to start in the fall of 2005, but the current renovation and addition plans could change if the money is not raised.
