A Letter from the President

Peter Albert

Happy new year! This is that fresh-start time of year - time to review what DTNA has accomplished, vote for board members, join DTNA or renew your membership. Our next DTNA meeting is Jan. 10 at 7 p.m. in the Cal-Pacific Medical Center Davies Auditorium. We will be electing new board officers and members-at-large. Please mark this on your calendar and check www.dtna.org (here) for updates.

A year in review

We accomplished a lot last year on major DTNA projects:

We also weighed-in on proposed local developments such as the Trader Joe's at Sanchez and Market streets, the housing project for the Lucky 13 site, and the Lyric youth shelter at the Perramount Hotel on Market Street. In each case, our input helped shape discussions (and our neighborhood) early enough in the permit process to matter.

DTNA board elections

Our first order of business in 2005 is to vote for board members and specific officers. I will not be running for president, and I encourage you to consider the following candidates who already have stated their intent to run for the respective offices:

President: Gregg Wilcox
Secretary: Edd Dundas
Treasurer: David Troup
Newsletter editors: Rodd Aubrey and Nelson Mitchell
Newsletter distributor: Tim Weeg

At-Large: Ben Gardiner, Peter Cohen, Mark Scheuer, Den- nis Richards, Eric Dupre, Derek Durst, Nelson Mitchell (all currently appointed/elected in 2004).

We have 13 seats and 12 members. We also do not have anyone considering the vice president position.

Please come to our Jan. 10 meeting to hear from candidates. Consider your own level of interest and VOTE!

Best wishes, and thanks for all the support you have given to DTNA -- and to me.

Peter Albert
