Neighbors who have attended the Duboce Triangle Neighborhood Association (DTNA) and Buena Vista Neighborhood Association (BVNA) joint informational meetings are well aware of the California Pacific Medical Center Davies Campus seismic retrofit and rebuild project. For neighbors who want more information, the intent of this article is to update you on this important project.
The project is driven by a state mandate (Senate Bill 1953) that requires hospitals statewide to conduct and complete seismic retrofits by 2008 and/or rebuild by 2013, or be closed. To meet this state mandate, CPMC will begin the retrofit of their existing facilities including the Davies Campus.
Over the past years, CPMC has been working closely with the DTNA/BVNA leaders and Task Force neighbor members to insure we have input from the neighbors in developing the Davies Campus plans as well as to insure we address any neighborhood concerns. CPMC in conjunction with the neighborhood associations recently established a Construction Monitoring Group (comprised of neighbors) that will serve as liaison between neighbors and CPMC and will monitor construction activities until completion of project.
Retrofit Construction Schedule: The seismic retrofit is tentatively scheduled to begin on the interior of the hospital in November 2004. We anticipate a minimal impact to the immediate neighbors during this phase. The exterior work is scheduled to start in January 2005.
Construction Hours: Construction hours will be Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. CPMC is implementing reasonable measures to mitigate the sound of the required work.
Parking and traffic information: The small construction crew will be parking in CPMC's multi-level parking garage. To avoid traffic disruptions, the plans are to schedule the need to stage for the delivery of equipment and materials, and large trucks during off-traffic hours.
Latest Informational Updates: CPMC is committed to maintaining its on-going communications with the neighbors, especially during this construction period. CPMC is in the process of having several communication tools operating by November 1st to make it easy for neighbors to contact us and/or obtain any construction information.
Community Relations Contact: To contact the community relations contact directly, please call 415-600-2982. For the current activity information visit our website. To obtain the latest construction information recorded message, please call (415) 600-2996.
