New Retail Corridor

The Triangle's New Retail Corridor... Fillmore Street?

For many in the neighborhood, Fillmore Street between Herman and Haight has been a place only known for it's two fabulous restaurants, Thep Phanom and the Indian Oven. However, over the last year or so a quiet revolution has occurred on the street. Fueled by small retail spaces and cheaper retail rents, a number of new hip restaurants, art galleries and boutiques owned by young entrepreneurs have opened. In addition, many of the residential buildings have gone through renovation, and the cute residential alley streets of Germania and Laussat look great.

Fillmore offers the City's latest vegetarian restaurant, Urban Forage. Don't be fooled by the small ground level space, upstairs is the most "charming" eating space in the city. The Upper Playground is always fun for art, and street fashions, and Sunhee Moon and Sugarpuss Lingerie offers the latest fashions for woman. Sixteen restaurants and stores are now open on the two block stretch. So, some Saturday afternoon, check it out.

Also, A big thank you to the new owner of the building at 129 Fillmore Street at Germania. This is probably the most impressive residential renovation in the city!
