Friends of 1800 Market and San Francisco Heritage are looking to work with DTNA, the Castro and Noe Valley to identify and establish for record significant, historic buildings in our neighborhoods. The purpose would be to record this finding so that any proposed demolition and/or significant alteration of these buildings would go through extra review and perhaps denial by the City. I think this is a worthwhile effort that could win a grant to get underway (documenting these buildings isn't cheap) and will hope to stay involved as the group goes forward. At the very least, it should encourage developers to find creative solutions that minimize impacts of new projects such as the proposal for 2140 Market on historic places such as Boynton Court.
Note for Your September Calendar
We are hoping to co-host a Mayor Candidate's Night with the Hayes Valley Neighborhood Association, the Buena Vista Neighborhood Association, Mt. Olympus Neighbors Association and Castro Area Planning and Action (CAPA). Tentative Plans are to hold the forum in September at the California Pacific Medical Center (Davies), where we held the Supervisor's forum last year. I hope to hold it on the same night as our bi-monthly meeting (Sept 8) but have not confirmed availability. Please check our website and upcoming (text ends)
