Minutes of the May 2003 Meeting

Minutes from the Last Meeting

By Edd Dundas, DTNA Board

The May meeting of the DTNA at the Harvey Milk Rec. Center featured President Peter Albert's agenda of urgent 'quality of life' matters for neighborhood consideration. Before the neighborhood discussion on these matters began. Supervisor Bevan Dufty and City Planner John Billovitseach gave a talk on their involvement in-and support for-community planning issues. Specifically, Mr. Billovits presented a brief summary of the issues and concerns the Planning Department has identified in the UpperMarket area in their "Market-Octavia Better Neighborhoods 2002" document. These presentations then prompted a neighborhood discussion and consensus of what three major projects the Duboce Triangle Neighborhood Association should actively undertake over the next year. See cover story for more information.

A representative of Dept. of Public Works announced that debris and furniture found on the sidewalks will be taken away if neighbors call 28-CLEAN. This number operates 24-hour, 7-days a week.

Liz Lerma of the City's ADOPT-A-STREET program invited neighbors to join in adopting the care of a street, a block, or just part of a block. DPW will help us improve the 'quality of life' of our streets by providing free cleaning supplies like brooms, dustpans, and bags; and for graffiti removal, paint, rollers, and pans. Just call 98-ADOPT (call any day, any hour) to sign up or get more information.
