Friday Free Movies

Friday Night at the Movies

St. Francis Lutheran Church (152 Church Street across from Safeway) is hosting a free video film series in May, 2003. The series is in anticipation of LGBT Freedom Day and will show films featuring lesbian and gay characters. In the spirit of pride, these films are slanted in the direction of upbeat and entertaining (and sometimes even sexy!). They are not fluff but they are not "noir" either. In short, they're an uplifting way to spend a Friday evening. Bring a friend or come by yourself and meet new friends! The films will be shown upstairs in the church in the lounge known as "Clare's Room" at 7:00 p.m.

The series starts on Friday, May 2 with "Big Eden: A Small Miracle." It's about a gay New Yorker who returns to his small hometown in Montana to take care of his sick grandfather. Closeted to the townspeople, he doesn't know that they already know he's gay and are determined to get him to "come out" and into their waiting arms. Popcorn and soda will be provided, discussion to follow!

Future film titles to be finalized. See the sign in front of the church or call 621-2635 for weekly listings.
